By Sharon Browne

pregnancy back pain relief

Many expectant mothers during the course of their pregnancy suffer with back pain at some time or the other, quite often this is in the lower back section of the body which is associated to the amount of weight that they carrying during their pregnancy. Holistic massage during pregnancy aims to offer many health benefits including easing back pain, lowering stress and anxiety levels and boosting moral.

Massage during your pregnancy is a very safe procedure that uses very light massage techniques for a relaxing and therapeutic massage, which will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Not only does it ease back pain but a majority of women that have encountered a therapeutic massage during their pregnancy have found that the birth was also much easier as they were more relaxed.

Massage has been around for many, many years and many people today are turning towards alternative therapies for their pain management, and for relieving stress and anxiety in their daily lives
During pregnancy you should be aware that some of the aromatherapy oils are that are around are not safe to use, we will look at what oils are safe and considered the best to use in your pregnancy, and what oils to avoid.

When having a pregnancy massage treatment you will lay in a comfortable position, depending on how many months pregnant you are you will be propped with pillows so that you are comfort during the massage procedure, using laying on your side, the massage therapist will then use therapeutic soft strokes and either oils or lotions to carry out a soothing back, neck and shoulder massage which will ease any tension, pain or discomfort that you are experiencing during your pregnancy.

Essential oils safe for pregnancy:

  • Bergamot
  • Ginger
  • Grapefruit
  • Lavender
  • Lemongrass
  • Lemon
  • Ylang Ylang
  • Tea Tree
  • Eucalyptus
  • Essential oils to avoid in pregnancy:
  • Basil
  • Bitter almond
  • Clary sage
  • Cinnamon
  • Coriander
  • Fennel
  • Rosemary
  • Wintergreen

There are two favourites that I would highly recommend to use during your pregnancy, the first being lemon this is especially helpful as an inhaler for people that suffer with morning sickness, my second one is lavender as it is healing and relaxing especially for expectant mothers it helps to soothe aches and pains, encourages cell renewal and is particularly helpful with water retention.

So if you are suffering with pain during your pregnancy the best investment during your pregnancy would be to invest in having a professional pregnancy massage. This combination can work wonders for people that are finding back pain a problem during their pregnancy. By having a therapeutic massage will have many great health benefits for yourself and also your baby.

Three Stress Relief Tips and Techniques That Work

Three Stress Relief Tips and Techniques That Work

By Loni Young

Here are three very effective stress relief techniques that you can use right away to help you get your stress under control. We are bombarded with all sorts of stress-causing issues each day, however must of us are ineffective of keeping it under control. These simple techniques help many people keep their stress at bay. If these are not enough for, there are more where these came from.

Keep Tasks Small

This is one of the most effective stress relief techniques. Many of us experience stress simply by the way we approach work or tasks. If you are a person who looks at tasks as a whole, then you probably get stressed out quite often. The way to prevent this kind of stress is to break every project down into its parts.
For example, let's say you have to organize a birthday party. Thinking about the whole task can be stressful. So break it down instead. The first task is invitations. Put everything else out of your mind and think only about who will be invited and how they will be notified. Then do it. Celebrate your accomplishment when you have finished the task.
If your todo list says "organize birthday party", then you are setting yourself up for stress. If your todo list says "send out invitations", "design cake" and "buy a present", then are minimizing stress by breaking down your tasks into doable bite-sized pieces.

Talk To People

Much of our stress is blow out of proportion. We are often harder on ourselves than others are on us. Our minds tend to race when we think of matters that stress us out. In these cases, we need the perspective of someone else, like a friends.

When you feel yourself getting stressed out, call a friend or family member and tell them about it. They will help you get a fresh perspective on the matter and you will feel better.

Aromatherapy Stress Relief

Aromatherapy is one of the lesser used stress relief techniques. Certain aromatherapy oils have been found to relieve stress when the aroma is inhaled. Some of these oils are:

  • Rose
  • Chamomile
  • Anise
  • Basil
  • Thyme

Carry a vile of one of these oils around with you. Or, to prevent spillage, put a couple drops of one of these oils into a vile of cotton balls or rock salt. Either of these will absorb the oil. When you are feeling stressed, take out the vile and have a whiff.

I hope you find these stress relief techniques helpful. I'll send you more stress relief tips if you are interested in learning more ways to manage stress in your life. However, knowing these techniques is not enough. You have to implement them faithfully.
