Here are three very effective stress relief techniques that you can use right away to help you get your stress under control. We are bombarded with all sorts of stress-causing issues each day, however must of us are ineffective of keeping it under control. These simple techniques help many people keep their stress at bay. Keep Tasks Small
This is one of the most effective stress relief techniques. Many of us experience stress simply by the way we approach work or tasks. If you are a person who looks at tasks as a whole, then you probably get stressed out quite often. The way to prevent this kind of stress is to break every project down into its parts.
For example, let's say you have to organize a birthday party. Thinking about the whole task can be stressful. So break it down instead. The first task is invitations. Put everything else out of your mind and think only about who will be invited and how they will be notified. Then do it. Celebrate your accomplishment when you have finished the task.
If your todo list says "organize birthday party", then you are setting yourself up for stress. If your todo list says "send out invitations", "design cake" and "buy a present", then are minimizing stress by breaking down your tasks into doable bite-sized pieces.
Talk To People
Much of our stress is blow out of proportion. We are often harder on ourselves than others are on us. Our minds tend to race when we think of matters that stress us out. In these cases, we need the perspective of someone else, like a friends.
When you feel yourself getting stressed out, call a friend or family member and tell them about it. They will help you get a fresh perspective on the matter and you will feel better.
Aromatherapy Stress Relief
Aromatherapy is one of the lesser used stress relief techniques. Certain aromatherapy oils have been found to relieve stress when the aroma is inhaled. Some of these oils are:
- Rose
- Chamomile
- Anise
- Basil
- Thyme
Carry a vile of one of these oils around with you. Or, to prevent spillage, put a couple drops of one of these oils into a vile of cotton balls or rock salt. Either of these will absorb the oil. When you are feeling stressed, take out the vile and have a whiff.
